Sherle Wagner Art Gallery has collaborated with Uprise Art to exhibit the paintings of Adrian Kay Wong and Amelia Midori Miller.

Sherle Wagner Art Gallery (SWag) showcases work from across the country in its Dallas, TX space. With particular emphasis on emerging artists, SWag aims to support and provide exposure for artists, while enriching the Dallas art scene.

Based in New York City, Uprise Art (www.upriseart.com) features original contemporary artwork by emerging artists working in a wide range of mediums. Representing more than 150 artists from around the world, the gallery has exhibited at prestigious art fairs and curated public and private exhibitions for institutions throughout the country. Their art advisors cater to both first time buyers and seasoned collectors. With their emphasis on emerging artists, and their shared goal of serving both new and experienced collectors, SWag and Uprise make perfect collaborators.

Adrian Kay Wong offers intimate depictions of adolescence through his paintings that balance his own sentimentalities and settle between nostalgia and estrangement. By investigating familial roles and relationships between sons, brothers, fathers, and friends, Wong explores the multifarious facets of their traditional definitions and creates visual, abstracted narratives with a measured simplicity. The artist affectionately attempts to glorify the innocent naiveté of youth, reconciling the vibrancy of juvenility and

the struggling confusion associated with growing up. Wong was raised in the east San Francisco Bay area and now lives and works in Los Angeles, CA after receiving his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2013

Amelia Midori Miller creates abstract paintings inspired by her upbringing in a densely populated urban setting. The notion of “obstruction” is an important element in her work, as at any given point within a city, there are a multitude of fences, barricades, windows, and architecture blocking a complete view. The artist takes this idea and creates works based loosely on the layering of objects and landscapes she experiences. Her paintings incorporate a universality and focus on formal issues such as light and space through composition and form. Midori Miller received her MFA in Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts, New York in 2012 and her BFA in Fine Arts with Honors from the School of Visual Arts, New York in 2007. She has exhibited nationally and abroad, and her work has been featured both online and in various publications.

Sherle Wagner Art Gallery (SWag)

Inaugural Exhibition

Opening June 16, 2016, 6-8 pm

On view through October 2016, Weekdays 9am-5-pm and by special appointment

With an inaugural show opening June 16, SWag introduces an exciting new gallery space to the Dallas art world. The exhibit features six emerging artists, working across various media:

Danielle Andress

Nicole Lian Aponte

Marissa Geoffroy

Piper Grosswendt

Amy Tavern

Kimberly Volkmann

The SWag art opening corresponds with the grand opening of Sherle Wagner Intl.’s Dallas Showroom. Since 1945, Sherle Wagner has been the premier source for luxury hardware and bath accessories, representing the highest level of design and artistry. In addition to being an innovative designer, Sherle Wagner himself was a talented artist. His commitment to the arts as a creator and collector, and his belief in both the aesthetic and social importance of art, informs the company’s ongoing legacy.

SWag was established with that legacy in mind, as a forum for introducing and supporting new artists and for celebrating more established artists. The inaugural show is organized by Marissa Geoffroy, Rose and Sherle Wagner’s granddaughter. Geoffroy is herself an artist, pursuing her Masters in Fine Arts at California College of the Arts, and will serve as Creative Director for SWag. For the opening show, she has assembled a collection of work created by her most talented and accomplished peers, bringing to Dallas their fresh perspectives on contemporary art.

With Sherle Wagner Intl. originating in New York, and the artists traveling in from the West Coast, SWag’s inaugural show represents the merging of contemporary art and design from across the nation. SWag’s choice of location is in recognition of Dallas as home to a lively and expanding art scene. SWag will participate in and contribute to this environment through hosting ongoing shows, including those featuring local artists and in collaboration with local art institutions.
